On June 13, 2023, Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) voted to overturn a Biden Administration rule put forward by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) that would reclassify firearms with a stabilizing brace as short-barreled rifles to require special registration or else be surrendered, destroyed, or confiscated with severe criminal penalties for otherwise law-abiding Americans.
