Congressman Jim Baird, who represents Indiana’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, marked Veterans Day and the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps with a series of posts on his social media accounts. Baird, a decorated Vietnam combat veteran, used the occasion to honor veterans and active-duty service members.
On November 10, 2025, Baird posted: "Happy 250th Birthday to the @USMC! Thank you to few, the proud for 250 years of service to our country. You have been vital to winning our country’s battles and your legacy will endure for generations. Semper Fi!"
Later that day, he shared his experience at a local event: "I was honored to join Brownsburg’s touching Veterans Day tribute over the weekend where I spoke about my service, the importance of honoring all veterans, and inspiring the next generation to serve. I was also proud to meet with many active-duty service members and veterans and"
On November 11, Baird expressed gratitude toward all veterans: "As a decorated Vietnam combat veteran, I want to thank all our veterans for their selfless service and sacrifice in defense of our freedoms. Our country owes you a debt of gratitude we can never fully repay. May God bless our veterans and God bless America."
Baird has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Todd Rokita as representative for Indiana’s 4th district. He previously held office in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018 and on the Putnam County Commission from 2006 to 2010. Born in Covington, Indiana in 1945, Baird is now 77 years old and resides in Greencastle. He graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1967.
