Congressman Jim Baird, who represents Indiana’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of updates on social media regarding legislative developments and national policy issues.
On July 15, 2025, Baird highlighted his appearance on WISH News 8 to discuss key provisions of a new legislative package. He wrote, "#ICYMI: I joined @WISHNews8 to discuss how the One Big Beautiful Bill strengthens SNAP and Medicaid for those who truly need it and the latest on the Middle East. WATCH BELOW https://t.co/VxYybdttxn".
Later that evening, Baird described a meeting with an agricultural cooperative. In his words from July 15: "I met with @FarmerCoop and discussed how the One Big Beautiful Bill makes the 199A deduction permanent, supports the farm safety net, and promotes better trade deals to help our farmers compete abroad! https://t.co/viyHDaFtir".
The following day, Baird commented on recent immigration data: " June 2025 had the LOWEST monthly illegal border crossings ever recorded. Thanks to @POTUS, his administration, and Republicans' strong border policies, we are delivering the most secure border in U.S. history!"
Baird has represented Indiana’s 4th congressional district since replacing Todd Rokita in 2019. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in both the Indiana House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018 and as a Putnam County Commissioner from 2006 to 2010. Born in Covington in 1945 and currently residing in Greencastle at age 77, Baird holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University (West Lafayette), which he earned in 1967.
