His remarks highlight both local and national benefits he associates with this legislative measure.

On July 3, 2025, Congressman Baird issued a statement regarding his vote in favor of the bill. Jim Baird has served in Congress since replacing Todd Rokita in 2019. Prior to this role, he was part of Indiana's House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018 and served on the Putnam County Commission from 2006 to 2010. Born in Covington, Indiana in 1945 and currently residing in Greencastle, Baird holds a degree from Purdue University obtained in 1967.
