Jim Baird marks release of hostages, Navy anniversary, and Columbus Day in recent posts

Congressman Jim Baird, who represents Indiana’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, marked recent events and anniversaries in a series of posts on social media.

On October 13, 2025, Baird commented on the release of hostages by Hamas, stating, "Every living hostage held by Hamas has finally been released. May God bless them as they face the difficult road to healing. Twenty families are finally reunited after this years-long, horrific ordeal. We also pray for the hostages who will not return home alive and for their".

Later that day, Baird acknowledged a major military anniversary, posting on October 14, 2025: "Happy 250th Birthday to the @USNavy! Please join me in thanking the men and women of the U.S. Navy for their enduring legacy of courage and for defending our precious freedoms around the globe. https://t.co/fKPUtdFt4S".

On the same day, he also recognized Columbus Day with a message about its historical significance: "This Columbus Day, let us honor the courage, discovery, and spirit of exploration of Christopher Columbus that changed the course of history and shaped our world! https://t.co/9xk2V5lTMU".

Baird, born in Covington, Indiana in 1945 and now residing in Greencastle, has served as a congressman since 2019 after replacing Todd Rokita. He previously held positions in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018 and on the Putnam County Commission from 2006 to 2010. Baird graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1967.
