Today, Congressman Jim Baird from Indiana's 4th district issued a statement regarding Israel's recent military actions targeting Iran's nuclear program and military leadership. In his remarks, Baird reiterated the United States' stance on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"The U.S. has been clear: Iran cannot and will not obtain a nuclear weapon," he stated. He emphasized that former President Trump had extended multiple opportunities to Iran for dismantling its nuclear program through negotiations, which Iran has not pursued in good faith.

Baird highlighted Iran's role as a significant sponsor of terrorism, referencing the October 7th attack by Hamas, which resulted in the deaths of nearly 1,200 Israelis and 46 Americans and involved taking numerous hostages. "Iran backed Hamas’ horrific October 7th attack," he said.

He further noted that Iran has persistently aimed at Israel's destruction through proxy forces, asserting Israel's right to self-defense. "Israel has the right to take action to defend itself," Baird declared.

The congressman concluded by affirming his continued attention to the unfolding situation and expressing support for Israel in its struggle for survival. "I will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds, and I stand with our ally Israel in its fight for its very existence."
