Congressman Jim Baird, representative for Indiana’s 4th district since 2019, has taken to social media to engage with his constituents and honor local figures. Baird, 77, born in Covington and a Purdue University graduate, continues to highlight prominent district residents and initiatives of note. These efforts include acknowledging significant contributions of individuals and promoting educational opportunities.
On May 1, 2025, Congressman Baird expressed his admiration on social media by stating, "I spoke on the House Floor to honor @pucvm graduate Dr. John Scamahorn, who has spent his career supporting veterinarians at the local, state, and national level!" Dr. John Scamahorn has achieved recognition for his extensive service in the veterinary field.
The following day, May 2, 2025, Baird took to social media once again to recognize another individual of importance, sharing, "This week, I spoke on the House Floor to honor Jinsie Bingham, a lifelong Greencastle, IN resident and the first woman in Indiana to own and operate a commercial radio station. I am grateful to know her, and I thank her for her decades of service to Greencastle!" Jinsie Bingham's contributions to the local community and broadcasting made her a notable figure in Indiana.
Later on May 2, 2025, Congressman Baird drew attention to a competition aimed at fostering educational and technological skills among young individuals in the district. He wrote, "Attention Hoosier Students: The 2025 Congressional App Challenge is NOW OPEN! I encourage every middle and high school student in our district to participate. Register and submit your app now until October 30, 2025!" This initiative seeks to engage students in the district with technology and coding activities.
Jim Baird has represented Indiana’s 4th District in the U.S. Congress since 2019. Before his congressional career, he served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018, and as a Putnam County Commissioner from 2006 to 2010.
