Uptown Common: Artisan Market Debuts In November

Uptown Common: Artisan Market Debuts In November

I'm so excited about a new event coming to Hendricks County, Indiana, next month for the first time. This unique shopping experience to be held at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park of all places, not exactly the place you would think of for shopping, should prove to be a hit as it will be just in time for the holidays and unlike any other event we have here.

But before I get to the event details, I want to provide a little history about the Brownsburg couple organizing it.

A Hendricks County Couple's Dream

In 2019 Grant and Jennifer Anderson, a husband-and-wife pair, created Uptown Common, a small business featuring hand-sewn leather pieces by Grant and macramé done by Jennifer.

To complement their leather items and macramé, the duo also sells indoor plants in numerous Midwestern markets.

Grant and Jennifer take Uptown Common on the road to 50-60 markets a year. In addition to being featured as vendors at markets, Uptown Common offers in-home classes that provide attendees with a finished piece.

Uptown Common: The Market

Having traveled the Midwest to cities like Louisville, Chicago and Terre Haute to attend artisan markets, Jennifer and Grant longed for a shopping experience in their own backyard - Hendricks County.

That's how Uptown Common: The Market came to be.

The artisan market will feature nearly 60 vendors hand selected by Jennifer and Grant.

To ensure a unique shopping experience different from a typical church craft fair, the Andersons have limited the number of vendors per category to three. They want to offer customers a fun, inspiring shopping experience with extraordinary artisans who create original work, outstanding curators of modern vintage items and high-end boutiques.

Stay tuned for details at the end of this blog post for a Visit Hendricks County-sponsored giveaway for free tickets to Uptown Common: The Market.

Must-See Hendricks County Vendors

Savage Cake Artistry and Apple Girl Art are two featured vendors from Hendricks County.

Shanlin Klein of Savage Cake Artistry bakes cupcakes, cookies and cakes with intricate designs made primarily with frosting.

Apple Girl Art features Katie Buttera who is part of a racing family that is often seen around Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. Katie creates jewelry out of car parts and welds pieces to make bowls.

Hoosiers to Look For

Hoosier Autumn Smith of Oak & Ko Designs takes common home decor up a notch featuring acrylic overlays on her creations. Liz Baker of The Dainty Little Bow Shop delicately designs unique accessories for the little girl in your life.

The list of must-see vendors goes on to include vibrant booths for candles, jewelry, skin care, food/drink, plants, babies/kids, wood, ceramics, stain glass, paper, pets, metal and so much more.
