Congressman Jim Baird, who represents Indiana’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed government funding issues and extended holiday wishes to constituents through his social media posts.
On September 30, 2025, Baird commented on the ongoing budget negotiations: "I voted to pass a clean CR to keep the government open. Democrats blocked it. Democrats are shutting down the government to spend YOUR hard-earned tax dollars on benefits for illegal immigrants and radical programs that increase the debt by $1.5 trillion."
The following day, October 1, 2025, he shared greetings for a religious observance: "Wishing an easy and meaningful Yom Kippur to all Hoosiers who observe. May this holy day of reflection and atonement bring peace and renewal."
Later on October 1, Baird again referenced congressional actions related to federal funding: "Republicans voted to keep the government open. Democrats voted to hold the government hostage to try to score political points and pass a $1.5 TRILLION radical wish list."
Baird has represented Indiana’s 4th District in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Todd Rokita. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Indiana House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018 and as a Putnam County Commissioner from 2006 to 2010. Born in Covington, Indiana in 1945, Baird currently resides in Greencastle at age 77. He is also an alumnus of Purdue University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1967.
