Congressman Jim Baird, representing Indiana’s 4th district since 2019, recently expressed his legislative priorities and commemorated historical events through a series of tweets. The congressman has served in various political capacities since 2006 and is currently advocating for legislation related to sanctuary cities and small business assistance.

On June 5, Congressman Baird stated, "I voted to PASS @RepFinstad's Save SBA from Sanctuary Cities Act to relocate SBA offices out of sanctuary jurisdictions." He emphasized the need for accountability among sanctuary cities and their leaders, accusing them of not adhering to federal law and jeopardizing American lives.

The following day, on June 6, he marked the anniversary of a significant World War II event. In his tweet, Baird noted, "Today marks the 81st anniversary of D-Day. Please join me in honoring the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944." He highlighted the courage demonstrated during this pivotal moment in history which contributed to Allied victory in Western Europe.

Later that day, Congressman Baird continued with legislative matters by expressing support for another bill. On June 6, he announced, "I was proud to vote for @RepBethVanDuyne's American Entrepreneurs First Act." This act aims to ensure that only legal citizens are eligible for Small Business Administration (SBA) assistance programs.

Jim Baird has been actively serving in U.S. Congress since replacing Todd Rokita in 2019. His prior experience includes service in the Indiana House of Representatives and as a Putnam County Commissioner. Born in Covington, Indiana in 1945, he resides in Greencastle and holds a degree from Purdue University.
