Congressman Jim Baird, representing Indiana's 4th district, has taken to social media to share his recent legislative initiatives. Baird, who succeeded Todd Rokita in 2019, has a long history of public service, having previously served in the Indiana House of Representatives and on the Putnam County Commission.

On June 4, 2025, Baird announced the introduction of the NSF and USDA Interagency Research Act alongside Representative Salinas. The bill aims to enhance collaboration between the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), fostering cross-cutting research that supports agricultural development.

The following day, June 5, Baird highlighted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act as a significant investment in rural America. The legislation seeks to improve livestock disaster programs, increase reference prices, expand crop insurance options, invest in biosecurity for livestock, and provide tax relief for family farms.

Later on June 5th, Baird expressed concern over immigration policies under the Biden-Harris Administration. He criticized what he described as inadequate vetting processes for immigrants entering the country and voiced his support for legislation aimed at prioritizing American citizens' safety by holding sanctuary cities accountable and ensuring proper allocation of Small Business Administration funds.

Baird was born in Covington, Indiana in 1945 and is an alumnus of Purdue University. He currently resides in Greencastle at age 77.
