Congressman Jim Baird, who has been serving Indiana’s 4th district since 2019, shared several updates on social media regarding legislative efforts and issues of national importance. His posts cover topics from the Farm Bill to concerns about research security and measures against the fentanyl crisis.

On February 5, 2025, Congressman Baird highlighted the potential for passing a Farm Bill within the year. He emphasized that "Our Farm Bill must include research funding for our land-grant universities like @LifeAtPurdue and a strong farm safety net to support farmers who have been struggling due to high inflation rates."

Later that day, Baird expressed concerns over the protection of research and development from foreign threats. In his post on February 5, he stated, "In @housescience, I asked what our universities and private industry are doing to protect research and development (R&D) from the threat of Communist China." He included a link for viewers to watch his inquiries.

On February 6, Congressman Baird announced the passage of legislation aimed at combating drug-related issues. He noted that ".@HouseGOP just PASSED the HALT Fentanyl Act to give law enforcement the tools they need to keep this deadly drug off our streets and out of our communities." Emphasizing the gravity of the issue, he remarked on the tragic loss of lives due to fentanyl.
