Congressman Jim Baird, representing Indiana's 4th district, has been actively engaging in legislative matters and community recognition. Through a series of tweets, Baird has communicated his involvement in foreign affairs oversight, defense legislation, and local achievements.

On December 11, 2024, Congressman Baird questioned Secretary Blinken during a session with the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He pressed for answers regarding Blinken's stance on the unconditional Afghanistan withdrawal and sought clarity on his unannounced visit to Afghanistan in April 2021. The congressman inquired about the information shared with President Biden following this visit. "In @HouseForeignGOP, I pressed Secretary Blinken on whether he expressed opposition to the unconditional Afghanistan withdrawal, the purpose of his unannounced visit to Afghanistan in April 2021, and the information he shared with President Biden following this visit."

Later that day, Baird expressed pride as a decorated Army combat veteran in supporting the National Defense Authorization Act. He acknowledged that while not perfect, the legislation benefits national defense and supports Indiana’s service members and military families. "As a decorated Army combat veteran, I was proud to vote for this year’s National Defense Authorization Act."

On December 12, 2024, Congressman Baird honored Avon High School's Marching Black and Gold band for their consecutive wins at the Bands of America Grand National Championship and ISSMA State Finals. He congratulated these students on their outstanding achievement. "I was proud to honor @AHS_Orioles' Marching Black and Gold for winning the Bands of America Grand National Championship and ISSMA State Finals for the second year in a row! Congratulations to these outstanding students!"
