Congressman Jim Baird, representing Indiana's 4th district, has been active on social media recently, addressing a range of topics from personal condolences to policy criticism. Baird, who succeeded Todd Rokita in 2019 and has a long history of public service in Indiana, expressed his views through several tweets over the past few days.
On December 9, Congressman Baird shared his condolences with fellow Congressman Michael Burgess and his family during a difficult time. He stated, "Danise and I are sending our deepest condolences to Congressman @michaelcburgess and his family. We are keeping them in our prayers during this extremely difficult time."
The following day, December 10, Baird criticized the Biden Administration's energy policies. He tweeted about the Liberty in Laundry Act aimed at protecting consumer choice regarding washing machines. He remarked that "The Biden Administration’s continued war on American energy has made its way into Americans’ homes. The Liberty in Laundry Act will protect consumer choice, ensure Americans can purchase affordable, reliable washing machines, and stop Biden’s rush-to-green agenda."
On December 11, Baird took part in questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan during a session with the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He emphasized the need for accountability by stating "Today in @HouseForeignGOP, I’m questioning Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the Biden Administration’s catastrophic withdrawal from Afghanistan. The American people deserve answers."
