Tigers Finish Third in the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championships
The DePauw women's indoor track and field team totaled 102.5 points for third place, just .5 behind second-place Ohio Wesleyan at the North Coast Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. Wittenberg won with 190 points.
The Tigers tallied 14 top-ten finishes on the final day of the NCAC Championships, with four all-conference performances.
DePauw seniors Jaida Smith and Seelye Stoffregen led the team with five top-ten finishes between them on the second day of the NCAC Championships. Stoffregen ran the first leg in the second-place 4x400 relay, running with Ava Knight, Morgan Tharp, and Annalise Grammel (4:09.50). She would go on to take fourth in the 400-meter run (1:02.07) and seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.82). Smith anchored the fifth-place 4x200 relay; joining her were Alexis Cagan, Grace Truax, and Emily Loera (1:51.66). In triple jump, Smith finished fifth with a distance of 10.39m (34-1.25).
The remaining three all-conference performances were in three different events. Grammel came in first with a time of 2:19.93, over in shot put, Bree Mahoney-Sutherland finished second with a throw of 12.23m (40-1.5), and in the 800-meter run, Meredith Sierpina finished third in the 3k run with a time of 10:34.68.
Knight and Tharp also finished in the top ten for the 800-meter run, with Knight finishing in 2:26.32 for fifth, followed by Tharp coming in seventh with a time of 2:31.47. Tessa Kochert took seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 10.26 (33-8), and in the mile, Emma Jacobs finished in sixth (5:26.57), and Rachel DeLancey finished in ninth with a time of 5:31.26. And in high jump, Abby Hartman finished in eighth with a height of 1.50m (4-11.00).
