Tigers Take First in Tim Hreha Memorial Indoor Invitational
Hosting its second annual Tim Hreha Memorial Indoor Invitational, the DePauw University women's indoor track and field team took first place after totaling 214 points. The Tigers had 22 individual top-three finishes, including an event sweep.
Jaida Smith opened the meet with a first-place finish in long jump after jumping 5.08 meters. Also placing in the top three in long jump was Emily Loera, who jumped 4.74 meters for third. DePauw totaled nine top-three finishers in field events across the evening. Abby Hartman earned first in high jump with a height of 1.47 meters. In shot put, Bree Mahoney-Sutherland threw 12.61 meters for first, and in pole vault, Emma Stemen finished first with a height of 3.10 meters. Mady Altman and Reanna Stiehler earned the Tigers' final two top-three finishes in weight throw. Altman took second with a throw of 11.77 meters, while Stiehler threw a distance of 11.30 meters for third.
The Tigers continued to find success around the track. In the 60-meter dash, Lily Boston earned second place with a time of 8.29 seconds, followed by teammate Smith who ran it in 8.37 seconds for third. Seelye Stoffregen and Allison Koehler finished in second and third, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles, with Stoffregen finishing in 9.78 seconds and Koehler with a time of 10.48 seconds.
In the 400-meter dash, Annalise Grammel and Sadie Gibson took first and third place, with Grammel running it in 1:01.47, while Gibson finished with a time of 1:04.19. Grammel and Stoffregen continued to find themselves in the top three after going second and third in the 200-meter dash. Grammel ran the 200-meter dash in 27.49 seconds, and Stoffregenn finished in 27.88 seconds.
DePauw dominated across a variety of distance events. Amzie Maienbrook finished first in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19.17.18, and teammate Maddie Perry earned third in the same event with a time of 20:07.98. In the mile run, Meredith Sierpina finished second with a time of 5:26.84, with teammate Rachel DeLancey close behind with a time of 5:27.92 for third.
The Tigers rounded out its top-three finishers with a definitive sweep in the 3000-meter run. Pacing her teammates, Sophie Porter finished the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:40.25 for first place; she was followed by Kendall Mann (11:36.50), who took second, and Ashley Baldwin, who finished third with a time of 11:54.63.
The Tigers finished first and second in the 4x400 meter relay to close out the Invitational. Alexis Cagan, Emily Loera, Gibson, and Grammel finished first with a time of 4:18.82. While Emma Jacobs, Ava Knight, Morgan Tharp, and DeLancey came in second with a time of 4:25.48.
DePauw returns to Greencastle, Indiana, on Saturday, February 11, to host the DePauw Indoor Invitational at 11 a.m. in the Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
