Tigers Take Second at the Davenport Quad Meet
Earning 48 individual top-ten finishes and totaling 923 points, the DePauw women's swimming team finished second in the Davenport Quad Meet. Host Davenport University took first place with 999 points, Hope College finished in third with 859 points, and Kalamazoo earned 396 points for fourth place.
DePauw finished in the top three in all four of the meet's relays. Kate Walsh, Claire Sweetwood, Elise Umbach, and Tarah Lang earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:40.28 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. In the 200 and 400-yard medley, Caroline Stowe, Umbach, Libby Ruff, and Lang finished in third, swimming the 200 medley in 1:52.87 and the 400 medley in 4:06.84. The Tigers tallied its final third-place finish in the 400-yard free, with Stowe, Sweetwood, Umbach, and Lang swimming it in 3:41.93.
Lang continued to make an impact for DePauw in her individual events earning first in the 50 free (24.83), second in the 200 free (1:58.09), and third in the 100 free with a time of 53.97.
Joining Lang with three top-three finishes was Umbach, who finished third in the 200-yard IM (2:14.79) and tallied two second-place finishes, one in the 400 IM (4:48.71) and the other in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.12).
Other top-five finishers include Ruff, who earned a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.94). Tara Holder took third in the 500 free (5:25.01) and fourth in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.51. Mei-Li Minnich finished third in the 100-butterfly (1:03.09) and fifth in the 100-breaststroke (1:12.76), while Emily Thompson finished fifth in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:18.60. Sweetwood came in fourth in the 50 free (25.35), Madeleine Collier finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.52),Rosey Gomes finished fifth in the 400-yard IM (4:56.19), and Courtney Marsh came in fifth in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:03.68.
DePauw travels to Crawfordsville, Ind., to compete in the Gail Pebworth Invitational from Friday, November 18, through Sunday, November 20.
