Tigers Roar Past Yeowomen in 4-1 Victory

The DePauw women's soccer team jumped back into the win column after beating Oberlin College 4-1 at home. The Tigers improve to 8-4-3 overall and 3-2 in North Coast Athletic Conference play, while the Yeowomen drop to 7-6-1 and 3-2 in conference play.

In the 14th minute, Oberlin's Zoe Garver chipped a pass from Heather Benway just past St. John to go up 1-0. The Tigers would answer with its own goal following a cross by Annalise Grammel, which found Jess Purtee on the back post for the tying goal.

Tied 1-1 at the start of the half, DePauw took the lead in the 48th minute when Grammel got a through ball to Sydney Calisto, who flicked it past the Yeowomen's goalkeeper for a 2-1 lead.

The Tigers would stretch its lead by two more goals in the 83rd and 84th minutes. DePauw's third goal came off a give-and-go, where Whitney Wells played back to Sadie Gibson, who quickly sent it back into Wells for a one-touch finish. Scoring the fourth and final goal almost a minute later was Grammel, who scored from thirty yards out, finding the top left corner of Oberlin's net.

DePauw finished the afternoon outshooting Oberlin 13-3, while both teams earned three corner kicks across regulation.

Emma St. John recorded one save for the afternoon, while the Yeowomen's Benji had three saves in the net.
