Smith Named NCAC Athlete of the Week
Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw shortstop Grace Smith (Sr., Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performances at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III Leadoff Classic.
Smith led the Tigers with a .450 (9-20) batting average while starting all six games.
Her nine hits and seven runs were team highs during the Classic and she also had two doubles, drove in three runs, slugged .550 and was successful in both steal attempts.
The Tigers, ranked first in the NFCA preseason rankings, posted a 3-3 record last week with five of the six opponents ranked in the NFCA's top 25.
Smith leads the 5-5 Tigers with a. .471 batting average, 11 runs, 16 hits, four doubles and one triple.
DePauw returns to action on March 19-20 at Transylvania's Pioneer Classic in Elizabethtown, Ky.
